It was 2011, and I had an epiphany concerning poetry through the reading of Psalms, one night in my grandmother's dining room.

The next day, the words began to flow, so I wrote.

I told my grandmother and she walked me outside and said, "Latoya, you need to write a book."

The more she heard inspired her to make plans for me to speak at church, in Sanford, FL.

That was the beginning of my writing and sharing my original faith-based poetry. Kindling Poetess was created.
